Not everyone will migrate to some of the more wilder shades but this is a mixed batch of colors, and there’s a little something in here for everyone. The Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipstick Collection didn’t have the best formula I’ve tried from the brand, but some of these shades will prove collectible pieces for fans of Wonderland, Disney, or Urban Decay in general. I detected no fragrance or flavor in any of the colors. I had no issues with migration or feathering, and the finish was very smooth on my drier lips with a wear of five hours. The color is very intense and the most pigmented shade in the collection. This formula is a bit more drying in comparison to Urban Decay’s Matte Revolution Lipstick formula. This is a bright, matte red with blue undertones. Iracebeth is another of my favorite shades. In natural light, it has a beautiful pink shift that compliments that golden nude of the base shade. This is one of my favorite shades from this release because it reflects so pretty in a variety of different lights. This has a thin slightly balmy consistency with a wear of around four hours that’s a bit drying through the wear but there was no migration of feathering issues. All three shades are pretty sheer so the initial application you’ll be able to see some of your natural lip color but after three to four passes you’ll get better pay off and intensity.Īlice is the sheerest shade of all five shades. Mirana is a little thicker than Mad Hatter and Time, but I had mostly the same experience with the wear of it. These also wear away in an unflattering wear since they leave a ton of shimmer behind. They wear for around three hours and during that time they do feel a bit dry on my lips. The colors do show signs of feathering around my lower lip, and they fade rather badly during the wear with color migrating towards the center of my lips. They do apply a little patchy, so you have to go over the color a little bit for the smoothest finish. Mad Hatter and Time were most alike in consistency with a thinner texture that had a little bit of grittiness due to the chunkier shimmer. The formula does vary from shade to shade in my opinion as do the finishes. You will be disappointed though if you expected full, opaque color as these do need a good deal of layering and building for the best color intensity. For example, blue lipstick isn’t my thing but Time is a sheerer formula that’s very workable. One of the more interesting aspects of these shades would be the fact that a majority of them are so sheer they actually are in fact wearable.
I see Mad Hatter being popular with darker skin tones as purple always rocks on such a tone in my opinion. The other shades, well, not quite my thing but that doesn’t mean others won’t simply adore them. Out of the five shades, I was most comfortable wearing Alice and Iracebeth. Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipstick (Mirana) Time (gunmetal-navy with silver shimmer).Mirana (matte berry with tonal shimmer). There five shades in this release each of which represents a character from the film and they are: Like Gwen’s Lipsticks, this packaging is made from a very light, plastic so you aren’t getting the same weightiness that we’ve seen from Revolution Lipstick. These aren’t a formula you’ve seen from Urban Decay’s Revolution Lipstick nor are they one I’d associate they Gwen’s release either so the formula is different and new.Įach of these comes housed in special edition packaging which features a trippy kaleidoscope pattern that matches the one we’ve seen on the Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette. I think you’ll see that with the Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipsticks as well. Those were pretty amazingly formulated! Not quote the Revolution Lipstick formula we know and love but something a little different and just as great. One of my favorite lipstick releases from Urban Decay in recent months would be the Gwen Stefani Lipsticks. I admit not all of these were wearable for me but if you’re a fond fan of unique shades of lipstick you’ll be excited about this launch for sure. Five shades inspired Disney’s new Alice Through the Looking Glass film, and the characters in it will launch in this collection in some wild and mad shades. The new, limited edition Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipstick ($18) are coming at you May 2nd.
